Each school is staffed with a school psychologist to help children succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. They collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to find effective solutions to learning and behavior problems. They provide training in social skills and anger management and evaluate eligibility for special services.
School Social Workers
The Derby Public Schools provide social services to preschool through high school students and their families with a need for direct or indirect support to build upon their strengths and ensure that the students are able to function well in a school. Besides providing direct, collaborative, and consultative services our social workers connect families with community resources when necessary.
