Introductions

The team is lead by the Information Technology manager, Brian Dunnuck. He manages the overall network, ensures software and security updates are applied, and supervises and evaluates Rahul Samanta whose primary responsibility is providing end-user support.

Each school year, the team selects one to two students to be a part of the team. The students are recommended by the Guidance Department staff and are screened for a basic understanding of computers. This student becomes an active member of the team and assists with basic troubleshooting and maintenance.

The Teams Goal

The goal of the department is to keep the Derby Public Schools' extensive WAN (wide area network) up and running at all times, and to support the district's educators in their goal of using technology as an educational tool that helps educate the students of Derby.  The task is not an easy one.  With over 550 computers distributed in four facilities at present and the numbers growing each year, the job is formidable.
